Government Careers 2026: DFFE Hiring Engineers, Foresters, and HR Specialists

Description
The National Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) stands as the primary guardian of South Africa’s natural heritage. In an era defined by climate change, biodiversity loss, and the urgent need for sustainable development, the DFFE’s “mission” is to lead South Africa toward an environmentally sustainable future while fostering inclusive economic growth. The department operates at the intersection of science, policy, and field operations, ensuring that the country’s vast marine resources, terrestrial forests, and unique ecosystems are protected for generations to come.
Why Now? The 2026 Strategic Recruitment Drive
The April 2026 intake is a critical component of the Department’s medium-term strategic framework. This recruitment drive aims to fill high-impact roles—from high-tech engineering in Cape Town to frontline forest management in KZN. By joining the DFFE now, professionals become architects of a “Green South Africa.”
