Practical Training
The apprenticeship is built around supervised maintenance work on machinery used in an industrial milling operation. Apprentices assist experienced millwrights with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. This gives the learner exposure to the type of practical work required to keep production equipment reliable and safe.
- Assist with installing, assembling and dismantling machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and other equipment.
- Learn to read blueprints, technical diagrams and manufacturer manuals.
- Use hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments under supervision.
- Assist with machine alignment using hoists, jacks and measuring tools.
