Minimum Requirements
Applicants need Matric or Grade 12. Sappi also requires at least three months of working experience as a General Worker together with some knowledge of rigging. Main Responsibilities
The Assistant Handyman Rigger helps load rigging equipment onto a trolley and move it between the rigging store and the work area. Under instruction, the employee helps select the correct lifting tackle and passes equipment such as chain blocks, slings and jacks to the Rigger, Handyman Rigger or Foreman.
The job also involves collecting spares and other required items from stores, using a trolley or forklift where applicable. During maintenance work, the assistant supports manual rigging and helps with the removal and installation of heavy equipment under supervision. Any safety concern noticed during the work must be reported to the responsible Rigger, Handyman Rigger or Foreman.
