Description

The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) is a government entity that supports municipalities across South Africa to deliver better services to communities. MISA is now offering a 24-month Internship Programme for 2026, giving unemployed South African graduates the chance to gain valuable, structured work experience inside a government organisation.

This is a paid internship β€” you will receive R7,860.50 every month for the full 24 months. If you are a recent graduate sitting at home without work experience, this is one of the best government internship opportunities available right now. Four different streams are available, so there is something for graduates from different fields of study.

All positions are based at the MISA Head Office in Centurion, Pretoria.


Available Positions

1. Information Communication Technology (ICT) Intern

What you will do:

You will support MISA’s ICT department with the management, maintenance, and support of technology systems and infrastructure. You will gain hands-on experience working with real IT environments inside a government setting.

Required Qualification:

  • National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6 or 7) in:
  • Information Technology
  • Computer Systems Engineering
  • or a related ICT field

2. Finance Intern

What you will do:

You will assist the Finance department with financial reporting, budgeting, processing of payments, and general financial administration. This is a great opportunity to understand how government finances and accounting work in practice.

Required Qualification:

  • National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6 or 7) in:
  • BCom Accounting
  • Financial Management
  • Cost and Management Accounting
  • or a related Finance field

3. Internal Control and Compliance Intern

What you will do:

You will support the Internal Control and Compliance unit by assisting with audits, reviewing internal processes, identifying risks, and helping to ensure MISA follows all relevant regulations and policies.

Required Qualification:

  • National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6 or 7) in:
  • Accounting
  • Auditing
  • Internal Audit
  • Risk Management
  • or a related field

4. Legal Services Intern

What you will do:

You will assist the Legal Services team with legal research, drafting documents, reviewing contracts, and providing general legal support to the organisation. This is ideal for law graduates who want to gain experience in a government legal environment.

Required Qualification:

  • LLB Degree
  • or any recognised Law Degree (NQF Level 6 or 7)

Step 3 – Write the Correct Reference Number

On your Z83 form, clearly write the reference number of the specific internship you are applying for (e.g. MISA/ICT/01). If you apply for the wrong reference number, your application may be disqualified.
