What the Programme Includes
The learnership combines theoretical learning with workplace experience. Participants need to complete the required learning components while also supporting normal administrative and customer-service activity. This gives learners a chance to understand how a financial-services office operates while working toward a nationally recognised qualification.
Metropolitan’s learnership duties include completing theoretical learning, supporting administration and reporting, working with documents and helping with client queries. Learners may need to receive a query, understand what the customer requires and direct or escalate it to the appropriate person. Accurate administration is important because customer and policy information needs to be handled consistently.
Workplace Responsibilities
- Complete the theoretical components of the learnership.
- Support administrative and reporting requirements.
- Handle and organise documents as required.
- Assist with client queries and route requests to the correct person or team.
- Support the office with general administrative duties.
- Maintain a professional working environment and contribute to normal office routines.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
- Age between 18 and 35 years.
- South African citizen by birth.
- Currently unemployed.
- Applicant should come from a previously disadvantaged group.
- People with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Interest in Customer Service and Sales
The programme is particularly relevant to young people who are comfortable working with customers and have an interest in sales or service. Financial-services organisations rely on clear communication because customers may need help understanding products, documents or next steps. A learner therefore needs to listen carefully, communicate professionally and know when a request should be passed to a more experienced employee.
Qualification Outcome
Successful learners work toward a Wealth Management NQF Level 4 qualification. The learning route introduces participants to the financial-services environment while the workplace component helps them understand how service, administration and business processes operate in practice. This combination can be useful for a school leaver who wants a structured entry route into insurance or related financial-services work.
About Metropolitan Life
Metropolitan is part of Momentum Group and provides financial solutions that include insurance, savings and related services. The learnership allows young people to gain experience inside this environment while building a formal qualification and learning how client-facing financial-services teams operate.
Experience Inside a Financial-Services Office
The workplace component gives learners exposure to the routines behind customer service in an insurance business. Documents need to be received and handled correctly, enquiries need to reach the appropriate employee and administrative information needs to be recorded consistently. These tasks help learners understand how customer-facing service depends on reliable back-office processes as well as good communication.
The programme can also help participants become familiar with professional standards expected in a financial-services environment. Learners need to manage time, follow instructions, work with colleagues and treat customer information carefully. Theoretical learning for the Wealth Management qualification provides the formal knowledge, while the office placement shows how that knowledge connects with real customer and business activity.
Three Eastern Cape Opportunities
The current intake is available in King William’s Town, Mthatha and Port Elizabeth. Keeping the same programme across several locations gives qualifying Eastern Cape applicants a choice of city while working toward the same qualification outcome. Candidates should apply through the specific vacancy page for the location that is practical for them and make sure they meet the citizenship, age and unemployment criteria stated for the programme.
How to Apply
The three locations have separate application pages on the official Momentum Group eRecruit system. Applicants should use the vacancy for the city where they want to complete the programme.
